Development history of Zhineng Qigong

1981-1988

1). Brokethrough previous small group teaching style confined by traditional Qigong, Zhineng Qigong was widely taught and spread in various regions of China. At the same time, cultivated a team of teachers, a new teaching model of “everyone can teach, everyone can learn”was established, and this model enabled Qigong to leap to a brand new state of benefiting the masses. During this period, sometimes, up to 3,000 students enrolled for one training session.

2). Dr. Pang started public training on how to apply the external Qi, and it enabled newcomers to be able to heal others via external Qi through a short period of training. Prior to this training, the skills of healing had been exclusive to a handful of long term practitioners. Therefore, the training was revolutionary in terms of practical application of Qigong.

3). In 1981, Dr. Pang published the very first comprehensive monograph on Qigong in Chinese Qigong history — “Qigong Tan Sui” (meaning: indepth study on Qigong), which ended the predicament of lacking systematic theoretical guidance for Qigong’s practice and application.

4). Established the doctrine of Hun-Yuan-Qi as the theoretical foundation of Zhineng Qigong, and created the original “Zuchang (meaning: build the Qi field)" technique for Qigong teaching, healing and scientific research, Zuchang concept uplifted Qigong to a brand new level.

5). In 1987, Dr. Pang created the very first Chinese Qigong major in history in a day college located in Haidian district of Beijing.

1988-2001

1). In 1988, launched the Huaxia Zhineng Qigong Center, which combined functions of rehabilitation, training, and scientific research. Within the short first 3 years, the number of employees had increased from 24 people to over 600. Without any commercial advertisement, only through public praise of effectiveness of rehabilitation and training, the monthly average number of students on campus reached more than 3,000, at one time even over 7,000 students resided on campus. Till end of 1999, the total number of student visits reached 300,000, the majority of them had severe or no cure medical conditions, which involved 210 kinds of illness, however, the effectiveness of healing was greater than 95%. Since year 2000, due to the adjustment of Chinese government policy, the center had ceased taking in new students, and it closed down completely in July 2001.

2). Since 1989, there have been Qigong scientific research activities nationwide through a large number of common people’s participation. From 1992 to 1997, there had been 6 times Zhineng Qigong academic symposium. There were more than 4,000 research papers received, which covered agriculture, industry, Forestry, livestock husbandry, fishery, health care, education, physical education, art, etc. Above revealed the promotion force of applied Zhineng Qigong in social productivity, and no other lineage of Qigong of that time or in history was able to make such comparison with Zhineng Qigong.

3). Published a series of textbooks, for general, mid-level and junior college use; launched “Science of Zhineng Qigong” magazine. These works served as perfect theoretical guide for Qigong, Qigongology and practical application of Qigong Science. It was a great achievement in the development history of Qigong, and it made Qigong become a unique new science and a foundation of new human culture. Zhineng Qigong has become the synonym of Qigong science.

4). In 1994, Dr. Pang proposed and systematically described the essential properties of Qigong culture, its way of development and its social significance, uplifted Qigong to a level of promoting the establishment and development of new human culture. And proposed “The Theory of Three Aspacts of Universal Substances", and started to verify and validate it. Zhineng Qigong had transcend its application in rehabilitation and healing, self-cultivation and family harmony, become the front line of human science, technology and culture development.

5). In 1995, Zhineng Qigong's "Peng Qi Guan Ding Fa (Lift Qi Up Pour Qi Down)" was listed as Number 1 health Qigong practice method approved by the Chinese government and therefore, was recommended to all Chinese citizens.

2001 till now

1) Zhineng Qigong closed its center by itself, to comply with Chinese government policy. Since then, only a small number of Zhineng Qigong teachers have engaged in teaching and healing work privately on a small scale in mainland China. However, at the same time, the number and influence of qigong learners in other countries and regions outside mainland China has been on the rise. This shows the strong vitality of Qigong culture and the strong demand of the whole mankind for it.

2) In 2012, Zhineng Qigong's Xing Shen Zhuang (Body mind form), and in 2014, Zhineng Qigong's Peng Qi Guan Ding Fa (Lift qi up pour qi down) and San Xin Bing Zhanzhuang (Three centers merge standing meditation), were adopted in college teaching textbooks by the National Health Commission of China, which has been the only new Qigong method used for college since China was founded.

3) Since 2012, Dr. Pang has published several research monographs on traditional culture, especially highlighting the contents of Qi-Xue (a knowledge system about Qi) and Xin-Xue (a knowledge system about consciousness). It further advances the study of the nature of consciousness.

Through the study and practice of Zhineng Qigong methods and theories, we will feel the charm of the new culture of Zhineng Qigong and have a better understanding of Dr. Pang's thoughts.

More importantly, it will surely benefit a lot throughout all our lives.
